Overview
Working in business requires a broad skillset, and this programme will provide you with just that. You will gain the skills and knowledge you need to excel in any office administration role and develop technical and administrative skills that can contribute to improving performance and productivity.
Course Hours
This programme runs for 19 weeks each year, including 2 holiday weeks.

Course Information
This programme comprises 60 credits including:
Administrative Systems (15 Credits)
Develop knowledge and skills to provide, improve and maintain administration services to meet business requirements.
Specialist Documents (15 Credits)
Develop knowledge and skills to process data and produce specialist documents for business information.
Workplace knowledge (15 Credits)
Develop knowledge and skills to deliver professional customer services that meet business requirements and develop the skills to work collaboratively within a team.
Business Information (15 Credits)
Develop knowledge, technical skills and financial calculations to produce comprehensive business information.
Domestic Entry Requirements
40 credits at NCEA Level 1, including 10 Literacy credits and 10 Numeracy credits; or relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2 or above; or a recognised equivalent.
Special and Discretionary admission is available.
International Entry Requirements
International applicants are required to have an IELTS score of 5.5 (general or academic) with no individual band lower than 5 from one test taken in the preceding two years, or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules.
Accreditation
The programme is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020, and Universal College of Learning is accredited to teach it.

Graduates who wish to further specialise can enrol in:
Advice And Guidance
It is recommended that applicants have at least 40 credits NCEA Level 1, including 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits
OR
the New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) (Level 3)
Work experience
All learners are required to complete 35 hours work experience in an office environment.
Recognition of prior learning
Applications for Recognition of Prior Learning, including Cross Credit, Credit Transfer and Assessment of Prior Learning, may be made on the Recognition of Prior Learning Form where a student believes all learning outcomes for a course have already been met. Applications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the UCOL Academic Statute and other relevant policies and procedures.

National Student Number (NSN) (If you don't have an NSN, you may request one from NZQA, or you can supply a verified copy of your birth certificate, passport or Whakapapa statement)
Evidence of your highest level of academic achievement (and evidence of prior learning, if applicable)
Evidence that you meet the entry requirements of the programme
Check if you're eligible for additional support or a scholarship. If you're 19 years or younger, you may be eligible to enrol in one of our free Youth Transition programmes
