Advice And Guidance

In New Zealand all people who engage in prescribed electrical work, must be registered or covered by the provisions under the Electricity Act 1992, or the Electrical (Safety) Regulations 2010.

UCOL provides courses to prepare learners in obtaining these certificates. It is necessary for a learner to pass a theory examination and to be assessed in a number of practical skills as set out by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB). However, you must complete 18 months practical training requirements to gain the full qualification.

This page is for people enrolling on the Electrical Service Technician (EST) course.

Electrical Workers Registration Board Examinations

Note that UCOL no longer does the examination for this. Please refer to the EWRB examinations page (external organisation). All candidates apply and pay online with ASPEQ.
