Marae me Whānau Rūma
Marae and Whānau Rooms
Nau mai, haere mai
Welcome to our whare manaaki, whare tiaki, and whare aroha. A place where culture, care, and connection thrive. Mauri ora, mauri tū, mauri tonu.
UCOL’s Wairarapa campus features Whakaoriori Marae. Each part of the marae has ngā ingoa (names) gifted by Ngāti Kahungunu kaumātua Canon Wi Te Tau - the wharenui is called Te Amorangi, the wharekai is named Te Hāpai o, and the ātea is known as Whakaoriori.
UCOL also proudly offers dedicated whānau rooms on our Manawatū and Whanganui campuses, named Te Hiringa i te Mahara (Manawatū) and Te Whare Huihuinga (Whanganui) - gifts from mana whenua kaumātua that reflect deep cultural significance.
These spaces are more than rooms—they are whare of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga, where everyone is welcomed, respected, and uplifted. They embody ōritetanga - a commitment to equity and safety for all who enter.
