Overview

Based at the quarry in South Wairarapa, the purpose of this qualification is to provide the infrastructure industry with people who have the knowledge and skills that can be applied across a range of standard infrastructure worksite operations.

Graduates will be able to work under limited supervision carrying out infrastructure worksite operations safely and with quality outcomes.

With excellent employment opportunities on completion, this programme will set you up for your future.

Delivered on Thursdays and Fridays from 9am - 3pm each day.

This programme comprises 60 credits.

Unit Standard 30265 (Level 3) (8 credits)

Apply health and safety risk assessment to a job role.

Unit Standard 20866 (Level 3) (7 Credits)

Work safely on an infrastructure worksite.

Unit Standard 20869 (Level 3) (3 Credits)

Demonstrate knowledge of notifiable works and work permits typical of infrastructure worksites.

Unit Standard 31942 (Level 3) (5 Credits)

Demonstrate knowledge of the impact of erosion and sedimentation on an infrastructure worksite.

Unit Standard 26784 (Level 3) (5 Credits)

Maintain daily records for an infrastructure works site.

Unit Standard 27329 (Level 3) (5 Credits)

Demonstrate knowledge of and apply quality assurance practices to own work area in an infrastructure works operation.

Unit Standard 6476 (Level 3) (5 Credits)

Use plans to locate features on an infrastructure worksite.

Locate and identify services for infrastructure works.)

Unit Standard 31457 (Level 3) (5 Credits)

Demonstrate knowledge of working around services for infrastructure works.

Load, secure, and transport infrastructure works materials, small plant, and equipment.

Unit Standard 31245 (Level 3) (5 Credits)

Plan for and lift, move, and place loads using mobile plant, in infrastructure works environments.

Unit Standard 32767 (Level 3) (5 Credits)

Demonstrate knowledge of lifting and moving loads for infrastructure works.

Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 12 - 13 secondary school learners (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or learners with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school), aged 16 years or over.

Applications are to be received from participating schools.

Recommended school subjects include:

  • Technology

  • English

*Please note, all participants are required to pass a drug screening test to follow the Health & Safety requirements of our industry partners and worksites.

Career Opportunities

Successful completion of UCOL's Acadmey New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Level 3 will be able to:

  • Apply health and safety procedures during work operations on infrastructure worksites.

  • Follow work processes and procedures and comply with environmental and quality outcomes to complete infrastructure work operations

  • Complete infrastructure work operations to job specifications.
